Richard Gere was mortified by the whole Late Late Show audience last night
LAST NIGHT, RICHARD Gere himself appeared on The Late Late Show.
The legendary actor was in town to plug his latest movie, Time Out of Mind, which premiered at the Audi Dublin International Film Festival last night.
Among other things, he discussed homelessness, revealed his distaste for Donald Trump and got mixed up between Great Britain and Ireland. (He referred to the cast of The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel as Ryan’s “compatriots”. Eh, nope.)
The highlight of the interview, though? When the entire audience serenaded Gere with Love Lift Us Up (Where We Belong) and totally mortified the poor man.
It started when a lady stood up in the audience and began singing…
Soon she was joined by a duet partner.
All the while Richard Gere smiled politely, and pretended this was totally normal and not at all awkward.
That feeling when a whole room of people is singing for you and you’re trying to plot your escape.
Soon the whole audience were behaving like they were at a Westlife concert in Croke Park.
Which had Gere in hysterics.
LOVE LIFT US UP WHERE WE BELONG
In the end, Gere walked into the audience and planted a giant kiss on the singer’s cheek.
So we guess he enjoyed it then.
